Alien Child

by Mona Lee

The planet Gallata, light-years from Earth, is home to a peaceful, scientifically advanced matriarchy, home to people who have the ability to share images and emotions by telepathy. Wella de Gornia is sent out by her elders to take up residence on Earth, a war-torn world unspeakably alien to her. Eventually she manages to form a family, settles in the San Juan Islands, and takes on her appointed task: raising a half-human child to be a new breed of citizen of Earth. It is with Wella's daughter, Dana, who inherits her psychic abilities, that the true adventure begins, as Dana is drawn into international politics by her working friendship with Lucinda Watson, the strong Black woman leader of a radical peace movement. Soon Dana must face the primal nature of human civilization and realize that--just maybe--she can change it.
